Making a connection is part of the process.
Connection is the key and foundation of our working therapeutic relationship. I want you to feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to face the pain that brought us together.
We will explore approaches and techniques to help you understand your past and create a new future through counseling and coaching. This exploration may be an emotional roller coaster, but you are not alone.
It is quite natural to experience bouts of anger, depression, or hopelessness during the therapy process. These feelings typically mean that change is happening, and change can feel uncomfortable. I encourage you to keep moving forward during these times, despite the painful feelings.
These feelings often subside in time and can lead to increased resilience and new behavioral and emotional reactions. Together, we will work to ensure that you have the practical, evidence-based tools to manage anxiety, depression, and all kinds of conflicts during emotional storms and life challenges.
Establishing therapy goals depends on you.
You may have personal and professional goals. Therefore, we will break each goal into bite-sized chunks.
A typical goal can take anywhere from 1-9 sessions, but each person is different. You will determine how long it takes for you; if you need more time to complete the goal, we can always change it.
Remember, you are always in charge and directing what we work on together.
My approach is holistic and centered on growth.
You are more than a body and brain. I will consider all aspects of you as a person, not just the symptoms and diagnosis.
We will explore physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects to support your mental well-being. I have various tools that we will use to work through any baggage you may carry that prevents you from being your best self.
After each session, you will have lifework to integrate into your daily life. Lifework is activities performed between sessions to reach your goals. It provides the opportunity to practice using new skills, helps clarify the work needed to achieve your goal, and enhances your ability to cope with the complexities of life.
While lifework can be challenging, it will be my pleasure to help you explore ways to enjoy the journey and find your path to a better life.
Take the first step and gain a new perspective.
I’m here to help you discover a new way of living by providing tools to support the courage you will build through our work together.
By trying something new, there is an opportunity to get out of the muck in which you are living – whether it is relationship challenges, recovery from trauma, or daily stress.
The first step is the most challenging, making the call to schedule the appointment. In this initial call, I will ask a few questions, and you will have an opportunity to ask questions and explore if we are a good fit. You will also have the option to schedule the appointment online after our discussion.
About Me
Hi, I’m Mary and thanks for saying yes to therapy.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and graduate from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Depth Psychology.
Various treatment centers and agencies specializing in physical and sexual trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, LGBTQIA, and relationship issues cultivated my cumulative experience.
I, too, share the journey of seeking a therapist. A therapist helped me put the pieces of my life back together after experiencing PTSD in the armed forces, changing careers, and navigating life after a divorce. These times were challenging, but starting therapy gave me the strength, tools, and insight to create the life I wanted to live.
Seeking understanding is my mission.
One of my favorite quotes by the Three Initiates is, “The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of understanding.” As you seek to understand who you are and what you want out of life, you will align with the wisdom to reach your goals.
I hope you walk away from therapy feeling confident, knowing your worth, and equipped to solve any problem that comes your way. The next question is, are you ready?
